Football betting rules at Betika Bet

This guide explains football bet settlement for adult players in Ethiopia, including regular time, extra time, penalties and interrupted matches. Betika Bet aims to settle football bets according to published market rules and official event data.

Before placing a bet, check the market name, the period covered, the match status and any special conditions in your bet slip. These details determine what you are betting on. Where this general guide differs from the conditions shown for a specific market, those market conditions take priority, subject to the applicable Terms and Conditions.

A won bet meets the selection’s winning conditions; a lost bet does not. A void bet is treated as having no valid outcome for settlement, normally returning the stake on a single bet. A cancelled or rejected submission is not necessarily an accepted bet: check your bet history for its confirmed status.

Standard settlement time: 90 minutes

For most football markets, settlement is based on 90 minutes of play plus referee-added stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shootouts are excluded unless the market name or rules clearly state otherwise.

Stoppage time, also called added time, compensates for interruptions within a half. Extra time is a separate period, usually two additional 15-minute halves, used in some knockout matches. A goal in second-half stoppage time therefore counts for a standard 90-minute market; a goal in extra time does not.

  • Match Result / 1X2: home win, draw or away win at the end of regular time.
  • Double Chance: two of the three regular-time outcomes covered by one selection.
  • Total Goals: goals scored during the stated period, compared with the selected total.
  • Handicap: the result after applying the market’s specified goal adjustment.
  • Both Teams to Score: whether each team scores during the stated period.

These markets normally use regular time. Do not assume that “full time” includes every stage of a knockout match: check the period stated in the market.

When extra time counts

Extra time counts only where the market conditions include it. Look for wording such as “including extra time” or check the rules for “To Qualify,” “Winner of Tie,” “Team to Lift the Trophy” and “Outright Winner.” An outright market concerns the winner of a competition, rather than just one match.

A “Team A to Qualify” selection may include extra time and a penalty shootout because it concerns advancement to the next round. A standard “Team A to Win — 1X2” selection normally concerns only regular time. Qualification across two legs may also depend on the aggregate score and competition rules.

The label alone should not replace checking the market’s stated conditions.

How penalties are settled

A penalty during the match is not the same as a penalty shootout. A scored penalty during regular time is a match goal and counts for goal markets covering that period. A penalty scored during extra time counts only where the relevant market includes extra time.

A penalty shootout is a separate procedure used to decide a winner. Shootout goals normally do not count towards standard Total Goals, Both Teams to Score or player goalscorer markets. The shootout result may determine qualification, trophy or outright selections when their rules include it.

For any dedicated shootout market, check its own penalty shootout betting rules rather than applying the rules for 90-minute markets.

Cancelled, postponed and abandoned matches

There is no universal settlement deadline for every interruption. The applicable event rules and Terms and Conditions determine whether a bet remains open, is settled or becomes void.

Applicable postponement and resumption deadline: [Compliance to confirm the exact deadline and qualifying conditions before publication.]

  • Cancelled before kick-off: a bet may be void if the event does not take place, subject to the applicable cancellation rule.
  • Postponed before kick-off: bets may remain open if the match is played within the permitted timeframe; otherwise, the relevant voiding rule applies.
  • Abandoned after kick-off: settlement depends on the interruption rules. Markets already unconditionally decided may be treated differently from unresolved markets.
  • Resumed later: check whether the continuation is treated as the original event and whether it meets the resumption deadline. A replay from the beginning may be treated differently.
  • Result changed after the final whistle: any settlement review follows the rules for official corrections, not an automatic refund policy.
  • Incorrect event details: a wrong date, team or market description may require review under the error provisions. An error does not automatically make a bet won or void.

If a selection becomes void within a multiple bet, the remaining selections and potential return are handled under the multiple-bet rules. Do not assume that the whole bet is refunded.

Live football betting settlement

Live football betting rules account for events changing while a bet is being submitted. Odds can update quickly, and acceptance may be delayed or refused. A submitted request is not an accepted bet until confirmation appears.

A goal, red card, VAR review, penalty decision or dangerous attack may trigger an odds change or market suspension, meaning betting on that market is temporarily paused. An unconfirmed request may expire or be rejected.

Live scores, clocks and broadcasts may be delayed. Settlement relies on the confirmed data and applicable market rules, not solely on what appeared on screen when you submitted the request. When using Betika Bet live, check the accepted bet details in your bet history.

Odds changes and bet confirmation

The odds attached to a bet are confirmed when the bet is accepted. If a football odds change occurs before acceptance, the system may ask you to accept updated odds, apply your available odds-change setting or reject the request.

Check the selection, stake, market period and odds before confirming, especially during live football. Afterwards, verify the accepted bet receipt. A later market price movement does not by itself change an accepted bet’s odds; any technical or obvious pricing error is handled under the applicable error provisions.

VAR, official data and result corrections

VAR—the video assistant referee process—can lead to a goal being disallowed, a penalty being awarded or a disciplinary decision being changed. Markets may remain suspended while a decision or official data is being confirmed.

A provisional score or statistic is not necessarily the settlement result. If an official source corrects data after settlement, any review or resettlement must follow the applicable Terms and Conditions. Not every later disciplinary or administrative decision changes a previously settled bet.

If you believe a bet was settled incorrectly, retain the bet reference, market name and accepted details so support can review the specific issue.

Player, cards and corners markets

  • Cards: check which recipients and card types count. Cards shown to substitutes, bench staff or coaches, and the treatment of second yellow cards, depend on the market rules.
  • Corners: check whether the market counts corners awarded or corners actually taken. An awarded corner that is not taken can create a difference between those definitions.
  • Player participation: some player markets may be void if a player does not take part. Others require a start or a particular participation condition. Check the specific market rules before placing a bet.
  • Player goals: own goals are usually excluded from individual goalscorer selections. Confirm the market’s own-goal and official attribution rules.

Also check whether the market covers regular time, extra time or a specified half.

Examples of football bet settlement

Illustrative scenarios, subject to the stated market conditions
Scenario Settlement
The match is 1–1 after regular time. Team A wins in extra time. A regular-time 1X2 selection on Team A loses. The regular-time result is a draw.
The match is 0–0 through extra time. Team B wins the shootout. Regular-time Total Goals Over 0.5 loses. Shootout goals are excluded.
The match is cancelled before kick-off. The bet is void if the applicable cancellation rule requires it; a single-bet stake is then returned.
A live bet request is submitted during a VAR review. It may await confirmation, require updated odds or be rejected. Check whether it was accepted.
Team A advances after a penalty shootout. “Team A to Qualify” wins if the market conditions include that qualification outcome.

Responsible football betting

Football betting should be entertainment, not a source of income. Only stake money you can afford to lose, and do not chase losses. Review available limits, breaks, self-exclusion options and support through Responsible Gaming.

Betting is for eligible adults only. Check the Age Restriction Policy for the applicable requirements.
